T.Allom 19th C. Tinted Engraving The Tae-ping Shaw Kwan from China Illustrated

Drawn by English architect, Thomas Allom and appearing as one of the 100's of engravings in the 4 volume edition from the 1840's, "China Illustrated", this tinted engraving is spectacular. Spectacular because of its expert rendering and that it captures a moment in history so well.

This scene shows a "day in the life..." view entitled "The Tae-ping Shaw Kwan". Excellent condition. Framed under glass.

The frame is a vintage, shadow-box style and the interior is gilded while the exterior is "Chinese Red". When hung all you see is the gilded interior framing. This is one of 7 recently acquired that are all framed the same way. The other 6 are each listed separately. The matte is a double matte. The matte closest to the image is a gold color while the off-white matte has light yellowing from age.
