This antique painting in an antique frame is not in the best condition but the subject matter is wonderful and it is priced accordingly. The canvas has been relined and there are paint flecks on the surface of the painting. Someone certainly thought highly enough of it to try to preserve it. The varnish and the background is so dark that if there is a signature it is undetectable. The frame too has been repaired in several spots and has some chipped areas. Frame size is 36" x 29" while the image size is 27 1/2" x 21". Very heavy.
