Very Large Antique Micromosaic Mosaic Pin in Pastel Colors

This pin is unusual on three counts - its size, coloration, and the fact that it has a maker's mark.

Most often, if a pin of this type has any marking, it is usually just the impressed words Made in Italy, or just Italy. In this case, there is no mention of Italy (although that is where these were made) but there is an impressed mark in a box of the initials WRO. We were unable to identify the maker.

The pin features a c-clasp (pin is bent from use but works well). The pin extends beyond the width of the pin which is a sure sign of its age. This pin dates from the late 1890s-1910.

You will note on the photo that the central, circular design with the daisies appears to have two very dark areas at around 1 and 2 o'clock positions. Those are not missing pieces but in fact dark green leaf shaped tessarae. This pin is in excellent condition. The pin measures 2 1/8" x 1 3/4".

Please note that the first two photos are taken with different lighting in an attempt to clearly portray the color. The first photo is closer than the second. The group photo is most like it.
