It's unusual to find pate-sur-pate pieces so this is quite rare. The lid of this lovely box is done with that difficult technique. The image is a mythological scene of two cherubs riding the north wind. It could also be interpreted as riding some sort of sea creature. To me it looks like they're in the clouds. Also, if you look closely at the photos, there are two creatures - one for each cherub. Very finely done and in excellent condition with no damages whatsoever.
