This is an extremely fine and detailed dragon decorated incense burner. It is carved in high relief so that all the details of the several dragons and their scales and other various textures are very visible. Stylized cloud relief as well. This is a very cute vintage netsuke. It has a really nice form and feels good in the hand. The pattern on the frogs skin is incised as are the eyes. Artist signed on the base. The base is also carved with the webbed feet of the frog. Very wearable. The color is a dark beige - possibly what they call a "tea stain". It compliments the carving very nicely. Perhaps this young fellow is drunk on sake! He is apparently taking libation from a gourd while his legs cling to the back of this bird (a crane?, swan?). The carving and incised work is incredibly fine and detailed including the underneath base showing the webbed feet of the bird! Artist signed and in excellent condition. This street scene was taken from one by Utrillo and done on a wall-hanging plaque made in Italy. It measures approx. 19 1/2" wide, 11 1/2" high and 1 7/8" deep. It is in excellent condition. I think it is ceramic - earthenware - not porcelain. On the back side it just says "Made in Italy". Done in 1950s.

This old Chinese cloisonne box dates from at least the 1920s - the height of the "Chinese Export" period. It has an extremely pleasing shape. It measures approx. 6 1/2" in diameter and is approx. 3 1/2" high to the top of the of the knob. It is in excellent condition with no damage to the enamel/cloisonne. The only mark on it is on the bottom with just the word "CHINA" in red lettering on the turquoise enamel ground.
