Here is a delightful rare, vintage 1957 "Tasha Tudor" first edition children’s book - "Around the Year". Everyone loves a celebration, and renowned illustrator and Caldecott Honor winner “Tasha Tudor” offers one for every month in this enchanting treasury of seasons. You get a splendid peek into the simply wholesome traditions of a New England farm family throughout the year. Come enter a world where sledding excursions melt into summer picnics, portrayal of children carving Jack- O'Lanterns for Halloween, a springtime shower and ice-skating on a pond, setting-off of firecrackers on America's Independence Day, Autumn Fairs beckon Christmas Cheer. A book to be enjoyed by the whole family around the year! Tudor frames the comforting verse with old-fashioned landscapes and quaint country scenes. Published by Henry Z. Walck, Copyright, 1957.

The book is filled with Tudor’s, beautiful soft watercolors and black & white illustrations. Each month is marked by four pages of illustrations accompanied with a short verse: "March promises / the hope of spring, / In swampy places peepers sing." Tudor's gentle humor comes through in such images as October's drawing of three children running from a graveyard as a be-sheeted child flails in a ghostly manner while others crouch, giggling behind the stones.

It is a hardcover book with a bright yellow cloth cover and lovely title lettering and beautiful illustrated endpapers. It is in good vintage condition. The cover is bright, it has some wear, some soiling, spine edge wear at top and bottom, corners bumped. The pages are bright, mostly all clean with some creasing on the title page and endpapers, a smudge spot here and there at the top of the page, little bubbling on the front endpaper and the back endpaper has a few spots, there is a name written on the endpaper. The binding is tight. It is a very nice book and a must have for any family or collector!!
