Antique Miniature Leather Bound Religious Book "Plain Texts For Daily Use"

This wonderful small book is entitled "Plain Texts For Daily Use" and is filled with biblical quotes that are intended to be read first thing in the morning and again in the evening. Each excerpt has two dates that are six months apart and there are additional quotes for special feast days such as Christmas, Ash Wednesday etc. The quotes were compiled by W. Walsham How, DD, First Bishop of Wakefield.

The title is impressed into the soft leather cover and gilded and the pages are also edged in gilt. It was published in London by Wells Gardner, Darton & Co. Ltd. and while not dated, there is a handwritten inscription "To Dorothy with best love from Elsie Xmas 1918". The book measures 2 3/4" by 2 1/2" by 3/8" and while a couple of pages have folds, these do not detract and the book is in excellent condition.
