We could not find a signature on this harbor scene however penciled on the back is "Early Morning Rockport F Denison" with various numbers. The back also has the sticker for "Kensington Canvas Sketching Panels Favor, Ruhl & Co. New York, Boston, Chicago". We are not familiar with the artist but the painter is most likely American and the setting, Rockport Massachusetts on the US eastern seaboard. The painting itself is a soft image that beautifully captures the morning stillness of the harbor at daybreak. There is a fold at the very top of the painting that is hidden by the frame and the picture is otherwise in excellent condition. the face measures 10 1/2" by 8 1/2", or 12 1/2" by 14 1/2" with what we believe is the original gold frame.
