This is a superb 19th Century locket in 18 Kt. gold with a fabulous bold design that includes a rope detail, four cultured pearls (4.2 mm average diameter) and a wonderful purplish-red, cabochon, natural garnet (17.5mm x 12 mm). This gorgeous antique locket is large, measuring 1 7/8" long (2 ½" with the bale), and 1 3/8" across with a weight of 26.4 grams. This outstanding locket is on a 9K yellow gold chain the is 20" long including the large spring ring clasp and weighs 15.8 grams. The chain is modern however complements the rope detail on the locket and the two together are stunning. The chain and locket are in excellent condition with only very minor signs of age. This is an exceptional and extraordinarily beautiful set and would make a terrific romantic gift for someone equally special!
