This original winter scene with a stream in the foreground and hills in the background is lovely and the colors quite wonderful. The oil on canvas measures approximately 9 ½" by 7 ½" and is nicely framed with a gold and brown wood frame measuring 15 ½" by 14" 9 ½". The painting is signed W. Pranke at the lower right. Walter Pranke 1925-), is a recognized Canadian artist listed on the Canadian Government’s “Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN)”. Information posted on the Artists In Canada website indicates he was born in Czechoslovakia and studied in Germany before coming to Canada in 1955. He painted mainly in the Laurentians, Gatineau Hills and the Ottawa Valley, exhibited at solo shows, and painted several murals for government buildings in Texas and Oregon.
