Antique Doulton Burslem Handled 3-Part Earthen Ware Dish With Floral And Gold Decoration

This beautiful earthenware dish from Doulton’s Burslem factory dates to the 1891-1902 period. It has a wonderful form with a lovely gilded handle gracefully integrating the three parts. The colors are soft and muted with the off-white color graduating to a darker tone towards the edges which are wonderfully highlighted with a gold overlay fern and flower design. Each section is decorated with delicate flower bouquets in dusty shades of purple and orange, and with blue forget-me-nots.

The piece is asymmetrical and approximately 11" at its widest. The sections are approximately 2" deep and the handle is 3 3/4" high. It is in very good condition with light crazing, slight wear to the gilding, and a couple of dark glaze pinpricks that are only noticeable on close scrutiny and do not detract. The bottom is stamped with the rosette and crown Doulton Burslem England mark with the hand-printed initials H B O.
