This book is titled Episodes of Insect Life by Acheta Domestica, M.E.S. published by J.S. Redfield, Clinton-Hall Boston B.B. Mussey & Co. 1851. This book has a black & white frontis, and wonderful personified insect illustrations by Edward Forbes. Original green cloth cover with embossed natural scene on back cover, and gilt embossed decorative front cover with charming illustration of a cricket (acheta domestica) reading a story to assembled insects. Decorative spine with gilt title a bit sunned and slightly chipped. The inside has some browning and a light moisture stain. I cant say water stain because the pages are all okay other than some mild brown discoloration. You can see the discoloration in the pics below. The book measures 8 1/2 x 6 1/4 inches.The book is 320 pages long. Would be a great addition to anyone who collects old bug books.
