Sword Stickpin Pin with Dangle

Sweetpea Cottage is offering this delicate goldtone sword stickpin, possibly a collar pin or tie pin. The sword fits into a scabbard with a heart shaped metal dangle hanging by a chain from the sword and scabbard. The dangle is set with two red stones, one visible from each side of the heart. We do not know the composition of the stone, nor do we know the nature of the metal used in the piece. It is constructed so that when the blade of the sword is threaded through a sweater or lapel the end of the pin is capped with the scabbard that is attached to the sword with a chain. Overall, it measures sword 3 1/4 inches long and the heart dangle hangs about 2 inches down from the sword on a chain. The handle and hilt of the sword are beautifully decorated with a detailed design. We do not know the age of this piece, but it is similar in appearance to others that we have seen from Victorian times.
