Sweetpea Cottage is offering this marvelous souvenir of the era of big cruise ships. The booklet documents the “Royal Mail Line, Passenger and Mail Services, Between Europe, New York, Canada, and Brazil and River Plate, North Pacific Ports via Panama Canal”. The focus of this booklet is on Norway with some mention of other northern European ports. While it is not clear when it was published, it comes from a collection of travel materials gathered during the late 1920's. The graphics on the cover are consistent with that era.

The cover is a marvelous graphic of mountains, pine trees and fiords. The ship is the RMSP Arcadian. It contains 11 pages with photos and text on both sides of each page. The photos are crisp and clear, depicting such places as Hammerfest, Hellesylt, Bergen, Oie-Hellesylt, Lyngen, Merok, Svartisen Glacier, Balholm, Dombaas, Loen, Briksdal, Wisby, Helsingfors, Danzig, Hamburg, and Stockholm. Along with the photos there is text describing many of the sites to be seen while on the cruise. The booklet measures 7 1/4 inches by 8 5/8 inches. It is in excellent condition with almost no damage, tears, stains, or separations. There is the slightest trace of a fold on the cover where someone must have tried to fold the booklet in half at one time while trying to wedge it into a pocket or purse. This fold is very subtle and does not detract from the item at all. On the inside back cover there is a glue line with some tissue paper attached to it. This appears to have been where a map might have been once attached. Alas, we do not have the map.
