In our search for the highest quality antique Navajo weavings, or rugs, we occasionally run across more contemporary items that are too good to ignore. That was the case with this marvelous item. This rug is definitely not an antique, but was probably woven during the second half of the 20th Century, based on the soft beige colors and the pattern. The design is the classic Ganado, or Klagetoh, diamond pattern, but the colors are more common for Two Grey Hills rugs. What makes this rug so different are the colors. Unlike the usual reds, black, grays, and browns, this rug is primarily beige, brown and gray. The softness of the colors makes it an excellent and unusual item to use in your home decor. The dimensions are about 39 inches by 57 inches, and the edges are wonderfully straight and true. The rug is heavy and tightly woven, with the normal lazy lines that are desired in a hand made Navajo weaving. There are no signs of any damage or dirt. It looks like it could have just come off of the loom. The corners are intact with their full tassels. If you are looking for a quality weaving for your floor or to hang on the wall, then this rug is for you. It is priced well below what you would normally expect to pay for rugs of much lesser quality.
