This listing is for one of Maugham’s most difficult books to obtain, the signed, numbered, limited edition of The Book Bag, published in Florence, Italy by G. Orioli in 1932. First edition. Blue boards with a white cloth spine. Condition is fine printed on hand made paper with much of it unopened. Covers slightly browned with small separation developing in the white cloth and slight separation between pages 48 and 49. Dust Jacket is in fine condition with a minimal water stain on lower section of spine. One of 725 signed copies, this one number 284. It is signed by Maugham at the bottom of the frontispiece portrait. A story of incest set in Malaya, the book was difficult to get published, thus the Italian publishing house. This item is tough to find and competitively priced.
