Long a symbol of wisdom, you would be wise to grab this terrific owl candlestick before it is gone. It is difficult to classify, but it has some Arts and Crafts aspects to it along with some Art Nouveau quality. The piece is solid cast metal, most likely spelter, that has been carefully bronzed on the surface. The detail of the three owls that encircle the piece is quite pronounced as they stand inquisitively looking over the base. Each owl has a set of glass eyes, all completely intact, that can be seen anchored with twisted wires on the inside. The bronzing is in good condition with just the slightest signs of it having started to rub through. There are no signs of it every being cleaned and it retains a wonderful rich patina. The total height is 4 inches and the base is 4 ½ inches at its widest point. The owls are all approximately 3 inches tall. The condition is top notch with the slightest bend to one small edge of the drip rim. If you are into owls, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, or just want something out of the ordinary, then you will love this piece.
