Sweetpea Cottage is selling this Navajo Rug that is woven with all naturally colored wool that dates from the 1900-1910. It is a terrific decorator piece, fit for any Arts and Crafts home. It is made with native hand-spun wool in natural colors of black, white, and gray with a grayish background. The design consists of four large white corner diamonds outlined in black, occupying the positions associated with the corners of a storm pattern. The center is filled with two groupings of four small white diamonds again outlined in black. The rug is bordered with a crenelated design. The dimensions are about 44 inches by 71 inches, although there is some variation as the edges are not perfectly straight. It is very heavy and tightly woven. There are the common color variations throughout the rug that are a result of the blending of different wools, along with the usual lazy lines. It shows the signs of use associated with being on the floor. There is broken salvage and edge cord, some small areas of exposed warp, and light soiling. There are some minor pulls along with some spots, and a few small holes. While there is damage, as we have described it here, the rug displays beautifully. Whether on a floor or wall, its bold design makes a great decorative statement. If the damage or spots bother you, they could be repaired. Personally, we would not touch it as the rug looks wonderful the way it is. This is one terrific rug that is in ready to use condition.
