Most likely a labor of love, this wonderful hanging plaque with two shelves is a real beauty. It measures approximately 18 inches long and is about 12 inches high. All hand-made out of pine, there is a border of incised squares that simulate woven reeding. Centering the piece is a honey stained field with incised cherry branches, leaves, and plump ripe fruit, all emphasized with some pyrographic outlining. To finish off the design, the cherries, leaves, and branches are all beautifully painted. Two shallow shelves sit proud of the piece, ideal locations for displaying small treasures. What is most unusual is that the shelves and supports are all mortised into the back with the tongues extending all the way through. This piece was built to last. Finally, in pencil, the name Lisette is hand written on the back, most likely the creator of this gem. The condition is superb. It has stood the test of time very well and is ready to hang in a position of distinction as a great accent decoration.
