Seldom does one come across any antique beaded item that is not in need of major repairs due to bead losses. Sweetpea Cottage has been very lucky to find this wonderful item. This Victorian English beaded trivet or tea tray shows very little sign of wear. In fact, after close inspection it appears to be missing only one bead, and that was hard to find. One can not help but ask where this trivet has been hiding all of these years. It is not dingy and dirty, but is bright and fine. We have inspected the back of the bead board and the original cloth to which the bead work is sewn is still crisp, in excellent condition, and well attached to the backing board. The photos speak for themselves. The colors are bright, in shades of turquoise, browns, whites and golds, and the design is crisp. The wooden frame is in excellent condition, although there is a very well done replacement patch of veneer that has been done at one end. There are several screws visible from the underside that are related to the patch, but we can not figure out what they are doing. Somebody has attached a wire to the back so that it can be hung as a display item on your wall. Perhaps that is why it is in such good condition. It measures a total of 21 3/4 inches long and is 10 1/8 inches wide. When sitting on the table it is 1 7/8 inches tall. Beaded trivets do not get any better than this!
