Sweetpea Cottage is offering a fine miniature, or doll, cradle, for you to add to your collection. This beautiful piece has been carefully hand-made, showing the fine workmanship of delicate hand-cut dovetails with the layout lines still visible. To set the piece off there is an arched covered bonnet at the head with the top boards attached with square-cut brads. It is made from 1/4 inch mahogany boards, has decorative scroll cut sides, splayed cradle sides, and cheese cutter rockers. On either side there is a brass drop tie down, and the wood has been stained and varnished. The overall condition is good showing the normal scratches and wear associated with the history of the piece. It was obtained from an estate in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and bears the traditional styling of an Amish piece. The total length of the cradle is about 23 inches long, stands approximately 14 ½ inches tall at the highest point, and is about 10 inches wide. Construction is a combination of dovetails with square-cut brads. At some points the dovetails have been reinforced with brads. There are several brass screws on the underside that are used to attach a support that runs along the length of the cradle underneath. This is an outstanding miniature that will accent any collection!
