Mission Style Curly Cherry Dresser Box w/Turquoise Cabochon

Hand crafted in our own woodworking shop at Sweetpea Cottage, this curly cherry dresser box, or jewelry tray, has a hinged lid and a marvelous turquoise cabochon inset into the top of the lid. With generous dimensions, this box is a one-of-a-kind treat for someone special. Crafted like a piece of fine furniture, it has been entirely constructed with beautiful curly cherry, selected and cut to emphasize the beautiful grain and color of the wood. It has been styled like the dresser boxes, or jewelry boxes, that were commonly made during the Arts and Crafts movement. The mitered lid peaks in the middle where the cabochon sits proud of the lid. The cherry has a beautiful rich color that will continue to intensify over the years.. On the underside of the lid a piece of birds-eye maple presents a wonderful surprise to anybody curious enough to open the box. The inside bottom has been covered with a piece of brown padded anti-tarnish, or pacific, cloth to keep your silver bright and shiny.

The box measures about 7 1/2 inches long and about 7 inches wide. The total height is 4 1/4 inches, with the body of the box standing 3 1/4 inches tall. The wood has been treated with a Danish oil, then finished with several coats of a polyurethane/oil finish, and finally hand-rubbed with high quality wax.
