Mission Style Curly Quartersawn White Oak Dresser Box w/ Inset Cabochon

Hand crafted in our own woodworking shop at Sweetpea Cottage, this curly white oak dresser box is a one-of-a-kind treat for someone special. Crafted like a piece of fine furniture, this is an elegantly styled box, that is capped with a gorgeous polished stone cabochon. It has been entirely constructed with extremely rare quartersawn curly white oak emphasizing the beautiful crazy grain and color of the wood. This wood is most unusual, hard to obtain, and absolutely spectacular in appearance. It has been styled like the dresser boxes, dressing table trays, or jewelry boxes, that were commonly made during the Arts and Crafts movement. The mitered lid is designed to peak in the middle where the cabochon sits proud of the lid. The oak has a golden-brown color that will continue to enrich with age. On the underside of the lid a piece of birds-eye maple presents a wonderful surprise to anybody curious enough to open the box. The inside bottom has been covered with green anti-tarnish, or pacific, cloth to keep your silver bright and shiny.

The box measures about 6 inches long and about 5 inches wide. The total height is 3 3/4 inches, with the body of the box standing 3 1/4 inches tall. The wood has been treated with a Danish oil, then finished with several coats of a polyurethane/oil finish, and finally hand-rubbed with high quality wax.
