Sweetpea Cottage is offering this delightful reproduction knife caddy made in our own woodworking shops. Fashioned after Early American knife caddy’s, utility trays, or utensil trays, this item has the traditional inverted heart design on the handle as often found on American primitives. Each end is decorated with a simple flower and leaf design. It measures 7 3/4 inches wide, 14 inches long, and the sides are 2 1/4 inches high. The heart handle adds another 3 3/4 inches to the height, for a total height of 6 inches. It has been painted with traditional milk paint in China red, carefully distressed to add age, and then top-coated with rub-on polyurethane to protect it from fingerprints and dirt. Imagine this sitting on your table, filled with fruit, nuts, gourds, or dried leaves. As a Country decorative item it will establish a warm feeling of hearth and home.
