Since the 1980's his one of a kind handmade creations have appeared on the runways of famous fashion designers - Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Carolina Herrera and Arnold Scaasi. Iradj Moini is a New York based designer with an international following, His creations are sold at Saks Fifth Avenue as well as upscale boutiques from New York City to Beverly Hills.
In only 20 years this designer has gone from being the couture jeweler for Oscar de la Renta to having his highly imaginative pieces exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2006 and in the permanent collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris. His jewelry designs can be seen on the cover of fashion magazines and in the private collections of women of fashion worldwide.
It's not unusual to see his jewelry sell in the $1,500. price range while he does not use precious metals, each piece of jewelry is considered a work of art. This magnificent pair of very long drop clip earrings that almost reach your shoulder is no exception. They are perfect to be worn alone for a special occasion, when you wear these almost 4" long pair of earrings you don't need to add another piece of jewelry.
The pear, marquise and round shape clear crystals are all bright and sparkling, prong set in a silver tone metal, they are in wonderful condition, however, one pear shape stone has 3 prongs instead of 4 but is securely held in place. The quality of the faux pearls is exceptional giving each 1" long pear shape pearl on the bottom and the 10mm round pearl on the top clip portion a very rich lustre. There are only a few very light scratches on the sides where the pearl swings freely through the pear shape opening on the bottom. The lower portion swings freely from the top clip.
Their entire length is 3-3/4" long x 1-1/2" across the widest point. The very top clip measures 1-1/4" long and the bottom drop 2-1/2". Considering how long they are, they are not terribly heavy. And most important the back of each earring is signed Iradj Moini.
On page 169 in Judith Miller's book Costume Jewelry you can see several examples of Mr. Moini's jewelry and read more about his background and understand why his unique designs are becoming more sought after every day. The last photo is taken from a Neiman Marcus catalog illustrating a pair of long pendant earrings designed by Iradj Moini. The two pairs shown sell for $540. and $650.
