Not all mink coats are the same and meet the same high quality standards that give this fur it's beauty and durability. Blackglama mink is considered the world's finest natural ranch raised mink and only these furs carry the Blackglama name.

Most important this luxurious full length mink coat is made only from female pelts, female pelts compared to male pelts are lighter, thinner and more supple, that makes a big difference when you wear a coat made of female pelts compared to male pelts. The cost of a female pelt fur coat is also much higher than one made of heavier and wider male pelts because of the higher quality of fur and especially because many more female pelts are used to make the same size coat. Blackglama female minks have a richness and depth and luster and the natural color catches the light, It is always easy to tell when a fur is dyed because the color changes. In the years I have this beautiful coat it has never changed color, it still has the same very dark almost black rich color and luster as the first day I wore it. Also important this coat keeps you very warm without being heavy and bulky to wear, it's straight line has a long slenderizing effect too.

I had this coat custom made to fit my measurements by a skilled New York furrier that made furs for retail stores throughout New York City. It was made according to my own design and is an original one of a kind mink coat that is classic and elegant. I also was involved with selecting the pelts and the dark brown silk lining, every aspect of making this coat was to be sure it fit perfectly. There were several fittings involved to be sure all the details were perfect too.

The only reason I decided to list this beautiful fur coat on Ruby Lane is that unfortunately I have gained some weight and the size Medium - 10-12 does not fit me now, otherwise I would never think of selling it. It is not a coat I wore very often and many furs that are worn very much always show wear spots along the front edges, this coat has no worn spots long the front edges. That is always a tell tale sign if a coat was worn, this coat was only worn on special occasions and when going out for a special event. It was not worn just to go to work.

It might be hard to tell from the photos but it is long and straight, it has a stand up Mandarin collar that can also be turned back a little. The sleeves are especially beautiful since they are fitted along the top and gradually become fuller on the bottom where they join the cuff. Also my favorite part of this original design are the two long slits on each side, the slit opening measures 16" long. It gives it a very elegant and slim air and also makes it comfortable to get in and out of a car too. Although I am petite I wanted this coat to be long so it looks wonderful worn with pants too. A coat of this design should never be short.

I took these exterior measurements with the coat laying flat and with the fur hooks and eyes closed so there is an overlap when all 4 fur hooks are fastened just as it is would fit when closed.

Under a section of the lining i pulled back you can see how well the coat was constructed with a very fine transparent silky fabric that covers the underside of the pelts. There is one photo showing that.

There are two pockets that are hidden in the seams so the coat does not appear bulky where the pockets are placed, and are velvet lined, there is another pocket hidden inside the silk lining. The coat has my monogram MTS embroidered in dark brown and discreetly matches the dark brown solid silk lining and is not obvious. There is a velvet ribbon outlining the silk lining to give it a special custom design finishing touch.
