SOLD GUERLAIN SHALIMAR Vintage 6-1/2" Huge Perfume Bottle Sealed & Box

For collectors of vintage commercial perfume bottles what can be more romantic than the classic GUERLAIN perfume bottle designed for the fragrance Shalimar.

In 1925 Jacques Guerlain created their first oriental fragrance Shalimar for the House of Guerlain, an exotic fragrance inspired and named after the Gardens of Shalimar, a Persian Garden built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 1640's.

This very large 6-1/2" tall bottle is etched on the bottom - Guerlain, Paris France Bottle Made in France the number 43 incised that would correspond to the number on the stopper. The original French paper label is attached on the pedestal bottom. The gold Shalimar label on the front is perfect and intact. The bottle neck is still wrapped with the original black and gold rope and G Paris seal. Baccarat also created the famous fan shape bottle but I don't see any Baccarat mark on the bottom, only that it was Made In France.

This beautiful vintage perfume bottle has never been opened but the liquid has evaporated over the decades since it was sealed. The very large size Shalimar bottle was part of a collection of French perfume bottles bought in France after World War II that I will also be listing. It is a very heavy bottle and the blue fan shape stopper is in very good condition with Guerlain Paris written in gold script that shows no wear.

The measurement across the top shoulder is 4-1/2". Although the original purple box custom cut to fit the fan shape bottle is worn, the bottle itself has no chips or any marks on the base which measures 2-3/4" across. The blue fan stopper measures 2" across the widest point. I would be glad to take additional photos if you contact me.

This most desirable Shalimar perfume bottle is illustrated on page 108 of the exquisite book Perfume Presentation - 100 Years of Artistry written by well known New York dealer, collector and expert, Ken Leach.

Since this is the very large Shalimar bottle it would also be wonderful to display with a collection of smaller Shalimar fan shape bottles too since this bottle came in several smaller sizes.
