From the famous Gorham Silver Company, a beautiful vintage ladies pressed powder compact. The powder and puff are both unused. The solid and heavy compact has a very ornate lid with repousse roses and baroque scrolls covering the entire lid that is not flat but with a rounded dome in the center.

With a very rich raised floral design with leaves and scrolls along the edge that would look beautiful displayed on a vanity along with vintage silver and cut crystal vanity powder jars and mirror brush and comb set. It reminds me very much of the ornate vanity accessories made during the Gilded Age at the turn of the last century.

It's also a very beautiful compact to carry in your purse or evening bag. The compact measures 3" in diameter and is 1/2" high. It is clearly marked Gorham in script with letters E P with an anchor hallmark inside a shield between the two letters. YC1864-C is also etched. It comes inside the Gorham box pictured

The bezel set mirror is clear with no discoloration and the pressed powder is easy to replace and remove with the small opening on the side. The compact is in excellent condition, there are a few surface scratches on the bottom from being displayed on a vanity tray. It makes a grand statement of an elegant romantic era.
