ESTEE LAUDER - Sun Bonnet on Hat Stand Solid Perfume Compact - Pleasures fragrance - Mint in Box - Unused. Book Piece featured in Roselyn Gerson's excellent book on The Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compact Collection 1967 to 2001 on page 131.

Since the late 1960's i have been enchanted by the Estee Lauder collection of pressed powder compacts and solid perfume compacts. I can't imagine that Estee Lauder could have foreseen how popular her exquisite vanity items would become today when she launched her first compact in 1967.

Each of these beautiful compacts are created on a limited edition basis with different compacts exclusive to famous department stores and only during a particular year.They are wonderful to display on a bedroom vanity but some are so exquisite and also designed by famous designers like Jay Strongwater and Judith Leiber that are too beautiful to keep hidden away in a bedroom.

This Sun Bonnet is an especially unusual design since it is a wide brimmed "straw" hat with the woven texture of straw sitting on a matching gold tone hat stand. It has a beautiful pink enamel ribbon with clear crystal accents and delicate white enamel flowers with green leaves on the ribbon and base of the hat stand.

The unused solid perfume in the Pleasures fragrance inside the well is cleverly hidden away under to the very top portion of the hat. It comes complete with the original clear round display box that imitates a hat box tied with a pink ribbon. The base of the box is signed Estee Lauder and there is a photo of the label.

The perfume compact is very solid and heavy and measures 4" high x 3" diameter for the clear round box. The height of the compact alone is approximately 2-1/4" tall and the hat brim also measures 2-1/4" across the widest point.

The compact and box are in excellent unused condition and would make a thoughtful gift for any woman or young girl or a treat to buy for yourself.
