Welcome to Sweetie's Memorable Gemz, filled with beautiful vintage treasures & more. Free US shipping & Lay-a-Way welcome.
Lucien Piccard watches and jewelry adorned royalty and their jewelry items are the most sought after today because of their high quality and workmanship. There is something very distinctive about their fine jewelry, I have only seen two other gold bracelets made by Lucien Piccard and all share a similar design element of combining double rows of three white cultured pearls alternating between larger very decorative sections. One bracelet with the same placement of cultured pearls was at auction for $1,800.
Each of the six purple-violet colored glass cameos of the same classic low relief female profile in satin glass can easily be mistaken for carved gemstone amethysts that are deep and rich in color and have the same classic profile of a female with wavy hair and a draped garment around the shoulders. It is in relief and you would believe these are carved amethyst stones, i can't imagine it would be possible to carve amethyst to create the same exact female in profile in relief.
The top glass plaque edges are beveled that adds more sparkle and each of the six panels are set into an intricate 14Kt. yellow gold four prong scroll setting with rope design along the top edge. The bottom of each panel is open allowing light to in effect illuminate each female raised relief profile. The bottom of each glass section ends in a deep stepped V design, again with a step cut like a gemstone to refract the light.
The overall beauty, elegance and quality of this beautiful Lucien Piccard bracelet is clearly evident with great attention given to the smallest detail and would be an exceptional addition to your fine gold jewelry collection.
There are a total of 36 white pearls approximately 4mm in size, they are perfectly matched in both size and color. Each violet color glass plaque is framed by it's own gold rectangular setting and measures approximately 5/8" long x 1/2" wide. The total length of the bracelet measures approximately 7-1/4" long. The gold clasp makes a snap sound when closed and the top of the clasp has a textured gold finish, underneath is shiny gold where the name Lucien Piccard is clearly marked on one line in a subtle arc and 14K below the name. The total weight is 33.5 grams.
This rare vintage bracelet dates from the late 1950's to very early 1960's, it was purchased in New York City and is a piece of fine jewelry that was gently worn, it is not the type of bracelet you would wear everyday. There are slight surface scratches from wear on the under side of the clasp that you would expect to see on a bracelet decades old.
Please note the glass plaques in the photographs appear more blue than the true color which more closely resembles a purple amethyst gemstone.
I will be glad to take additional photos upon request.
