Recently purchased at a local estate sale are what I believe are unmarked German Hertwig dolls from the late 1800s. The McKinley Act passed in 1890 required imported goods to be permanently marked with the country of origin. Therefore, if a doll head is impressed with the word Germany, it dates no earlier then 1891. German Porcelain Half Doll on Pink Satin Pin Cushion with legs. ca. 1920's A beautiful specimen of German Bisque Porcelain Half Doll, she is mounted on a pink satin dress/pin cushion, with her attached porcelain legs. I cannot read if she has a number as she is sewn onto the pin cushion. Her dress is hand sewn with a brown lace trim. She is 4 1/2" across the bottom of her base , and stands 4" high.
