Wow, these drapes are fashioned from a knockout eye-popping colorway in a tight weave fabric.

Very mid-century modern so perfect with your teak Danish Modern furniture. Swaths would have covered the huge expanse of the "picture" window in the living room. This was a must have feature of every new home built after the war. The down side of these huge windows was the fact that the people of the late fifties and sixties were deathly afraid of a nuclear bomb. Somehow they seemed to believe that covering them in scads of fabric, would give some protection?

The cotton material is very heavy and has a raised integral pattern that looks a lot like bark, however I'm leery of labeling them barkcloth because, unfortunately, it has become a generic term for most mid-century fabrics. There are a lot of other terms that have been neglected. The colors of cream red, black, aubergine, white and 3 tones of blue are still bright and strong.

The curtains are in near perfect condition and that goes also for the pristine white liners. Usually they tend to have water stains etc., not this lot.

Measurements are

one curtain, made up of 2 pcs. -19" & 37"sewn together, to form one piece 56" wide length 83".

other curtain, made up of 2 pieces-18" & 47 1/2" for a total width of 65" length 83". Each drape has a 3 1/2" header and a 4" hem.

They are weighted at bottom edge.

As I said, these amazing drapes are in near perfect condition, however they will need airing for a few days in a warm dry place. I do believe they were dry cleaned before being packed away but now have a dampish odor. Nothing that an airing won't fix. I also know that if you place them in a container with newspapers, the paper will absorb odors. Be sure to change the paper frequently.

Due to the weight of this fabric, I'm quoting a flat shipping rate of $ 27.00 to North America, and $30.00 to Australia and the U.K.

Be the proud owner of this piece of history. Be green, recycle, re-use.
