REDUCED 1940's Summer Day Dress- "Murray White Boston" Cool & Sheer

This is a lovely late 40's early 50's day dress with it's cool, fresh fabric with horizontal variegated stripes of blue and black on white. You'll need a slip under this as the fabric is quite sheer.

The striped material (last pic is the most accurate color) is used to good advantage as it forms the bias binding on the short sleeves and all the way down the front which is fully buttoned-19 blue buttons in all, with a dome fastener at the waist.

The skirt is gored and consists of 20 panels giving the skirt a 150" full sweep. The bodice and skirt are stitched together at the waist.

In a couple of shots I've used a crinoline (not for sale) under the dress just to show the fullness of the skirt.

Condition

Very good vintage. The belt is missing but the two string loops remain so I'd use a nice white belt (mine shown is not included, besides it's too wide) or a navy wider than the one I've used. It'll need sort of a "mama bear" width.

There is a small mended spot near the edge of one sleeve opening. Some of the buttons will need securing as they are a bit loose.

As this is a sheer and quite delicate fabric, you wouldn't want to squeeze into this garment, so please measure carefully. See below for my method of measuring.

Please note: Sizing: When I measure any clothing items, they are laid flat, so the measurements are of the garment, not a person. In order to be fairly certain that the item of your choice will fit you comfortably, I suggest that you do the same. Choose a similar item that you have in your closet and make it one that you feel very comfortable wearing. Lay it on a flat surface, take the measurements then compare them with the sizing in the description of the item you are interested in purchasing.

Vintage fashions: Unless otherwise stated, all the items of clothing and accessories that are offered for sale are vintage, ranging from the forties through the eighties. Therefore they have had a great former life and unless noted, all are gently worn. I try my best to buy quality and to note flaws however these items are not new and I do not represent them as “new”. They will not look like you just bought them at your local mall. So if a slight mark here, a loose button or a pulled stitch there, bothers you please don’t buy.
