REDUCED Vintage 1950's "Minx Modes" Cocktail/Dance Dress w/ Bolero Steel Blue Adorable

This is a (xs ) absolutely darling dress from the early 50's by Minx Modes in a beautiful steel blue/grey poly taffeta that rustles when it moves. It features a adorable square neckline with shoulder straps adorned with clusters of rhinestones.

The skirt features a row of ruching covered with a 1 1/2" band which gives the appearance of layers. The huge sweep of 156" is comprised of 4- 39" wide panels.

The matching bolero features a fold over collar that extends all the way from front to back and ruching at the ends of the 3/4 length sleeves. There are gussets under each arm for ease of movement.

Measurements Dress- Waist 25" Hips 38" Bust 32" straps 10" front to back. I do believe these have been let out to add length, so perhaps they may need shortening again depending on your requirements. Skirt length 27" Bodice Length 13" There is a 12" side metal zipper.

Bodice-Sleeve length 22" from collar seam to hemmed edge 14" across back shoulder blade height Length from nape of neck to bottom edge 13 1/2"

I have shown this dress with a full crinoline to show off the sweep to it's best advantage but it is not included with the dress. You could wear this with or without, either way it shows beautifully.

Condition: Very Good vintage. The only issues are that the person doing a couple of small repair jobs had absolutely no skills with a needle and thread. The straps, sleeve repair (pictured) and a small stitched repair where one frill section of the skirt came away slightly from the other, will need re-sewing more neatly. Small things really for such a gorgeous dinner/dance dress. My seamstress quoted me $12.00, so no big deal. If you would like a couple more pics of the repairs, I'll gladly provide them.

Please note: Sizing: When I measure any clothing items, they are laid flat, so the measurements are of the garment, not a person. In order to be fairly certain that the item of your choice will fit you comfortably, I suggest that you do the same. Choose a similar item that you have in your closet and make it one that you feel very comfortable wearing. Lay it on a flat surface, take the measurements then compare them with the sizing in the description of the item you are interested in purchasing.

Therefore they have had a great former life and unless noted, all are gently worn. I try my best to buy quality and to note flaws however these items are not new and I do not represent them as “new”. They will not look like you just bought them at your local mall. So if a slight mark here, a loose button or a pulled stitch there, bothers you please don’t buy.
