This set consists of a simple sheath dress-maxi length and appears to have been home fashioned with love. It's ultra white in a polyester fabric, sleeveless, with an empire waist. There are 2 darts @ back from raised waistline and the zipper at back is 22".
Measurements: Shoulders 5" Armholes 17" in dia. Empire waist 30" Bust 34" Hips 36" Natural waist 31" Length from top center back to hem 58 1/2"
Then there is the cloak/cape. It's made of a white poly lace with inserts of ribbon every 2". It features a loose hood, the cloak is decorated with scallops around the outside edges, and it flows down and out into a fishtail/train length of 67". The design that creates the 110" sweep is lovely. 28" down from the center back is an inverted V panel inserted and then another smaller insert below that. This extra fabric creates the marvelous width and the extended train.
The cloak has no closures but with the lace it wouldn't be at all difficult to add buttons if you wish to. There are 4 lace covered buttons on each 3 1/4" cuff. One button is missing it's self fabric cover but I'm sure that's easy to fix. The sleeves themselves are 25" long, the last 9" of that before the cuff flares out creating a bishop style sleeve.
Condition: It doesn't appear that this gown and cape were worn at all or at least not more than once (well we hope not!). There are 3-4 small but stubborn stains, I've shown the worst one, it's near the end of the train. It is smaller than a dime. I feel confident that with all this fabric any home sewer would be able to fix a couple of flaws. The facing on the armholes and neckline need tacking into place. Please ignore the pink tones of the clothes, don't know why but my camera didn't seem to want to show a true white.
Shipping-Flat rate of $20.00 for Canada & Continental U.S.A
Please note: Sizing: When I measure any clothing items, they are laid flat, so the measurements are of the garment, not a person. In order to be fairly certain that the item of your choice will fit you comfortably, I suggest that you do the same. Choose a similar item that you have in your closet and make it one that you feel very comfortable wearing. Lay it on a flat surface, take the measurements then compare them with the sizing in the description of the item you are interested in purchasing.
Vintage fashions: Unless otherwise stated, all the items of clothing and accessories that are offered for sale are vintage, ranging from the forties through the eighties. Therefore they have had a great former life and unless noted, all are gently worn. I try my best to buy quality and to note flaws however these items are not new and I do not represent them as “new”. They will not look like you just bought them at your local mall. So if a slight mark here, a loose button or a pulled stitch there, bothers you please don’t buy. I want my customers to be very pleased with their purchase. If you’re happy we’re all happy.
