Why this lady might even have owned a small derringer which could easily be hidden in the roomy zippered purse. Like so many of the accessories of the day these muffs were must haves for the style conscious of the 40's.
This particular mink fur piece is black tinged with dark brown and is fairly large at 14" in dia. 17" across bottom, 12" high and 2 1/2" deep. The 7 1/2" metal zipper closes a roomy purse that is lined in a black fabric. This fabric has the appearance of water lines but this is a faux look. The fur appears on the front, the back is covered in a black brocade with a braid trim. The whole muff itself is filled with a soft material so that the hands stay lovely and warm.
I love the large lucite buckles that hold the 1 3/4" elastic carrying strap, they are crimped all around like a pie crust edge crimped with a thumb. The zipper pull is also lucite and shaped like a large off angle diamond.
Condition is very good vintage. The only thing I notice is a slight shedding just a few stray hairs, nothing terrible. There are no holes or other signs of wear. Shipping-Flat rate of $ 14.00 for Canada & Continental U.S.A.
