The fabric is a medium weight cotton with a good hand in a waffle type of weave, with a vertical raised pattern. The white ground of the fabric is covered in tiny black polka dots then strewn with loads of large and colorful flowers. There is a wonderful cornucopia of blooms, large Pansies, Poppies, Sunflowers, Daisies, etc. All the florals large and small including the leaves and buds, are outlined in black. They pop!
The crayola colors used are bright and cheery in hot pink Fuchsia, Emerald green, navy, Peacock blue, Daffodil yellow, bright Scarlett red. If you have a bit of a shy personality, don't buy this because all eyes will be on you when you enter a room.
The styling is correctly simple, a front scoop neck, 7" sleeves, 2 darts from bust to waist for simple shaping, a 17" hidden zipper down the back and a nice full skirt sewn to bodice. The dress has 2 very large green belt loops but alas the original belt is missing. I've used one of mine, not really all that suitable but it does pick out the red nicely.
This garment is factory made, the washing instruction tag is still attached but the maker tag has been removed understandably so as they always seem to stick outside the dress. Shipping Flat rate of $ 12.00 for Canada & Continental U.S.A.
Purse shown is for prop only and is not available for sale.
Measurements: Waist 26" Shoulder 4" Across back shoulder blade height 13" Bust 32" Length of bodice at back 15 1/2" Length of skirt 27 3/4" Overall length taken at back 43 1/4"
Condition: VERY good vintage. Apart from the missing belt, there are only 2 small flaws that I could find. Two stitches have come loose at front of sleeve where it meets the bodice and the other sleeve, close to the edge has a few hand stitches that show on the outside. I'm not sure why they are there, but my guess is that they are temporary basting stitches that didn't get removed. I say this because the inside finishing stitches are all firm and neat. No problems.
Please note: Sizing: When I measure any clothing items, they are laid flat, so the measurements are of the garment, not a person. In order to be fairly certain that the item of your choice will fit you comfortably, I suggest that you do the same. Choose a similar item that you have in your closet and make it one that you feel very comfortable wearing. Lay it on a flat surface, take the measurements then compare them with the sizing in the description of the item you are interested in purchasing.
Vintage fashions: Unless otherwise stated, all the items of clothing and accessories that are offered for sale are vintage, ranging from the forties through the eighties. Therefore they have had a great former life and unless noted, all are gently worn. I try my best to buy quality and to note flaws however these items are not new and I do not represent them as “new”. They will not look like you just bought them at your local mall. So if a slight mark here, a loose button or a pulled stitch there, bothers you please don’t buy. I want my customers to be very pleased with their purchase. If you’re happy we’re all happy.
