Elegant Victorian brass banquet lamp, dating from about 1850 - 1860. The oil receptacle is embossed with a floral design, the stem is either onyx or a tromp l'oeil glass painted from the interior. The base is 18", and an estimated height of the lamp with a shade would be about 28". The reticulated brass base is about 7" square.
The lamp is fitted for a chimney, but both the shade and chimney were broken. Reproduction replacement globes and chimneys are easy to find, or you may be fortunate enough to find an old glass globe.
This oil lamp was converted to electricity well over 50 years ago, and although it does work, we advise rewiring for your safety. It appears the base has been soldered from the inside. The photos show the outside of this portion, and you can see there is no defect visible on the outside of the base.
UPS ground is probably the most economical means of delivery for this item in most areas of the US, but I am happy to ship by any method.
