Old French Brass Trinket Box with 18th Century Scene

This small velvet lined brass box is a little jewel. It measures 3 1/4" x 2" x 2 1/4". The lid has a charming picture, framed by dark blue grosgrain silk, under glass. The picture appears to be a watercolor ( won't risk taking this apart!) of ladies and gentlemen in 18th century dress.

The sides of this oval box are embossed with a swirled leaf pattern. The interior is lined with dark blue velvet. There is a faint hairline that partially crosses the glass on top - it is in otherwise very good condition.

This box comes from the personal collection of an antique dealer who passed away several years ago, She had been in business for well over 50 years and had some rare and unusual things.
