About Us
Welcome to SuzansTreasures!

A little about me -

Antiques run in the family. My great-grandmother, grandmother, grandfather and mom all had antique shops. I bid (and won) at my first auction when I was 4. The item was 25 cents, and it was all I had at the time.

I worked in my grandmother's shop, which specialized in Victorian glassware, and helped my grandfather, a skilled old-world artisan who rescued old furniture. In my teens, I became interested in Victorian jewelry.

In the 1990's, I had a young family, expected to be out of work, and my husband's company was closing. I turned to my experience and background in antiques and collectibles, just to make ends meet. I have been part of several 'brick and mortar' shops, but discovered Ruby Lane, opening my shop in March of 2000. Things turned out better than we expected, but I was having so much fun on Ruby Lane, that I continued with my shop.

I have a BA in archaeology, advanced degrees in dentistry and oral biology. I teach at U of MD, garden, and paint (pastels). I have just started on my 1st quilt. My greatest love is my family - I do it all for them.

About my shop-

Order with confidence! I have a liberal exchange and return policy, and I ship at or below cost - no extra charges for packing or handling. Want it fast? Priority and express mail are always available at cost, and I'll make an extra trip to the post office, just for you.

I offer free gift wrap on small items, with a liberal exchange policy if the recipient isn't pleased.

Layaway - I offer layaway on orders over $100. My layaway agreement is in accordance with Maryland laws - please request a copy. Some items may be held "short term" on an informal basis.

What's special about SuzansTreasures? I offer free or low cost adjustments on vintage jewelry. Not all of us have 6" wrists and most of us have pierced ears. I may be able to adjust jewelry to suit your needs, without harming the original. Every piece is different, so please ask for details.

Gift Suggestions for 2009

Think green! Not just the color, but think about conserving material, re-using and preserving the things were have.

Natural materials, such as wood, natural gemstones and mother of pearl are in. Vintage silver and gold never go out of style and continue to be a great value.
Earth and forest colors - greens, tan, ochre, warm gold and burnt umber. Think warm and cozy.natural.

Vintage objects put to a new use is IN. Disposable items are out, so think about giving things of lasting value. Frame a Currier and Ives print for Dad, revive your Grandma's china and add a few coordinating serving pieces or start a sterling charm bracelet for your daughter. Younger people love those mod and hippie styles from the 60's and 70's. Give them your old bell-bottoms and add a pair of funky earrings.

It's true - it IS the thought that counts. You don't have to overspend to find things that are thoughtful, interesting and special. Antiques and collectible ARE special - you can find something that's unusual and of lasting value - and stay within your budget.

Need ideas? Can't find it? I'm happy to help. I have hundreds of things not yet listed, just ask!
