The English are known for their stunning brass pieces and this is no exception. This tri-fold needle case or book c. 1890 is rich in detail. The brass cover looks like a repousse picture frame with an elegant flower pattern around the center oval..

Within the he brass oval is a scene of a loving couple seated on a garden bench. The man is reading (love poems?) to his wife or fiancée. Behind them is a paper background with a bower of roses.

The interior holds three rows of needles which appear to be original to the case. The paper label reads: Superfine Needles, MANUFACTURER OF NEEDLES LIMITED, REDDICH, ENGLAND. The lining is linen. The leatherette case is grey-green.

Condition: Some staining and edge wear. Needles are rusty.
