The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus souvenir program and magazine was one of the best ways to remember a great trip to see "The Greatest Show on Earth". This program is from 1977, the 107th Edition.
It features cover art and a separate, bonus poster by Gustavo Novoa. Along with interesting stories about all of the acts, the Felds (producers) and the clowns and elephants, there is a large section devoted to the undisputed star of the circus, Gunther Gebel Williams. Best known for his acts with tigers, he also was an accomplished horseman and worked with and trained elephants and other wild animals.
The program is in wonderful condition for being 30 years old - no brown edges on the pages, tight binding, clean and no musty smell. There is a small tear, about ½" just above the right front cover bottom corner that was taped at one time. The remains of the tape can be seen on the inside of the cover, which features a great ad for a Datsun Hatchback car. (It doesn't interfere with the cover art or the advertisement, in my opinion.)
The poster is huge - 38" tall and 23" wide! It is in good condition with vibrant colors - it has the expected creases where it was folded to fit inside the program. There are brown marks from long-gone tape on the corners, but not in the artwork. There *is* one tear that extends about 9" into the poster - it is at the bottom right corner, just where the artist's signature is located.
A great addition to a circus theme collection, or just for the history and art from this era of the circus.
