Here is an unusual item! I'm sure it is Japanese. It is a 12 inch round, 1 1/4 inch high piece with a covered center well that is 6 1/4 inches across. when you take of the center lid there are 5 scalloped edge plates. The piece is composed of a hard plastic and painted or lacquered finish. The item is beautifully painted with a flowered tree and what looks like a gourd that has a rope tied around it. Maybe this is a sushi server? It weighs under 1/2 pound! It is in excellent condition and very nice. Susan
