This is a wonderful antique commemorative coin that dates to 1885. The coin is quite large and heavy, measuring 1 1/2" in diameter. The front of the coin reads: St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church, Erected Anno Domini 1895. This side also reads the names of the members of the BUILDING Committee: Reverend Stewart Means, George M. Grant, Robert T. Merwin, Samuel E. Dibble, William S. Wells.

When you turn the coin over it reads: Finance Committee and these names: Rev Stewart Means, William S. Wells, Samuel E. Dibble, George M. Beers, Arthur W. Earle, Horatio G. Redfield, Harry K. Lunes, Albert W. Mattoon.

My research leads me to believe that this church was St. Johns in New Haven , Conn.

The coin is in EXCELLENT condition! I would assume it is either silver plated or made of some type of coin silver.

The coin is very heavy!
