One of the most popular and colorful of the picture Jaspers, Owyhee Jasper (pronounced Oh-Way-Hee) reminds me of the desert landscape with brown earth and blue sky. Paired with woven Copper rondelles these beads make a magnificent bracelet.

Jaspers have been used as ornamental and gemstones from ancient times. They are microcrystalline Quartz in association with a variety of other minerals which give the Jaspers colorful patterns and bands. Jaspers are often named according to its color or patterns.

Owyhee Jasper is named after the Owyhee River and comes from the mountain area on the Idaho-Oregon border of USA.

Copper has been long known for its therapeutic value in the relief of arthritis and joint pains. Many believe that wearing Copper jewelry provides soothing and healing for such pain. Copper is associated with the Zodiac signs of Taurus and Libra and with the planet Venus.
