Fluorite gets its name from the element Fluorine and its fluorescent nature and is known as the most colorful mineral on earth. It is prized for its glassy luster and the variety of colors ranging from purple to blue to green to colorless. Is also comes in pink, black, red and brown. Since the colors are arranged in zones or bands due to the crystalline structure of the mineral, intermediate colors are often found. Under UV light it fluoresces a blue color. Ancient Romans carved it into highly prized figurines and vases. Natural healers associate Fluorite with calming and concentrating emotional energy.
