Beautiful large Copeland earthenware soup tureen with a polychrome transfer pattern in the chinoiserie style, featuring an oriental garden with a vase filled with peonies on a table, a hanging lantern in a rock garden, and a lovely twig handle / finial. The pattern is overlaid with green, blue, pink, teal and burnt orange enamels, with lustre highlights.
The soup tureen bears the impressed word "COPELAND," in curved form without a crown above (c. 1850-67).
The measurements for the soup tureen are: 15 inches across from handle to handle; 8-Ľ inches wide; and 9 ˝ inches tall to the top of the finial. The lid is 12 ˝ inches long; and 7 inches wide; and the stand / under plate is 15 ľ inches in length; and 9 ľ inches wide.
Condition is very good to excellent, slight wear.
