I believe this is an old chick feeder. Painted with a chick about to devour a worm. Adorable! It is even initialed "MP". Unknown when it was painted, but the artist obviously had some talent, and the paint is still in remarkable condition. The tray measures 7" at its max. Marked, in reverse, on the bottom "Hoeff(t) & Company Northern Chicago" and "Patented May 12, 1903/ Jan 9, 1917/ May 1, 1917"
