About Us
I recently have changed directions in my artistic career, and am now concentrating on anodized aluminum as my favorite medium to work with. The colors and textures excite me, and the ability to use wire maximizes my creative energy. I can also incorporate my love of beads and other materials in my creations, making truly unique and interesting pieces. I like to think of them as works of art that you wear, to be enjoyed by yourself and your friends. I tend to get bored doing the same thing all of the time, so I challenge myself to come up with new ways to create different things using texture and color to fulfill my imagination. Take a tour on my journey of designs - I'm sure you'll find something to whet your appetite.
If you have been looking at my site for awhile, you will begin to notice some changes in the upcoming months. I have hired a professional photographer, Taylor Dabney, to help bring my pieces to life. Of course, as soon as I have a bunch of photos made I come up with new designs, so some of the photos still have the unmistaken quality of an amateur - those would be my photos and not his. I plan on retaking the professional shots yearly, so please bear with me in the quality of some of the photos.
New to the fold - I recently took a jewelry making class (I've only been making jewelry for the past ten years, I figured it's about time I learned all the things I was doing wrong...) and I learned a ton of new techniques. I love the look of hammered metal, so you will start to see me incorporating other metals into my work. I have begun using brass and copper in some of my pieces, and I have been very happy with the result. Look at my cuff bracelets as an example.
I also took the plunge and started buying sheets of anodized aluminum, and now I can cut my own shapes and designs. I started with pendants and ornaments - both for the tree and the wall. I love the flexibility this offers, and I am thrilled with the outcome. These have been popular at my latest craft shows as well, so I think I am on the right track.
I plan on putting some money into new tools - I did learn that there is a multitude of tools out there for jewelry making, and I feel so manly using many of them. (I even learned how to solder - using a propane torch! These few pieces won't be on the website, but as I get practice, and attend the next class in February of 2008, I may actually start putting these up for sale as well.) So check back in early 2008 to see what I've been busy creating - it is sure to be interesting!
I have been very successful at one store in particular, A Show of Hands, in Alexandria, Virginia. This is also the place that I continually have my best show of the year (Art on the Avenue, first Saturday in October) so it would make sense that my work flies off the shelf there. That is the good news. The bad news is I went up there for the holiday season recently and they took most of my newest works. My mobiles, in particular, and the cuff bracelets, secondly, are wiped out. If you are interested in these short term (for the holidays 2007), please e-mail me early, as these will all need to be made - I have no mobiles left and only a few of the bracelets. I still have a good selection of the other pieces on the website, so feel free to browse to your hearts content.
I spend a lot of time on custom pieces, so I should be able to make whatever it is you are looking for. Feel free to e-mail me and we can discuss a special piece, made just for you. Check out the bridal jewelry I did for a friend - I am still getting complements on the pieces!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work!
Some customer comments:
"Oh My Dear Tracy, You landed it perfectly yet again. I received, as I'm sure you can tell, my Prayer Bead Necklace. It arrived today. First, as usual it is beautifully packaged. I open the package and just jumped up and down, as much as I'm capable of, as said "I Love it, I Love it and it's just exactly what I had in mind. As my Daughter-in-law said as soon as she understood why I had lost my mind for a minute is "Tracy Rocks," as so you do. I couldn't be more pleased it I had been beside you picking it all out."

"My sister received the bracelet last Monday and only takes it off when she sleeps... in fact, her husband noticed that she puts it on before her wedding ring in the morning. She called to tell me how much she loved it on Tuesday because she said that she was too emotional to call on Monday. In short... I think you did an awesome job on it!" JD - Virginia
