Creamy smooth, true elephant ivory, as evidenced by the cross hatching seen on the bottom of the piece. Nicely detailed figure of an oriental lady holding a rather large flower. She measures 2 inches tall, and has good depth. It is just luscious! On the very bottom right hand side - where her robe takes a curl up? The edge of that is smooth, but on the bottom of that very area it is not smooth - I don't know if a splinter of ivory came out, or if that's how they had to do it to get that curl to the bottom of her robe. Barring that - the condition is excellent, and this is a really nice piece.
